Some windows users have total faith using the windows explorer as their file manager. While it is not entirely a bad solution, there are other solutions that are much better and will go a long way to make your work easier and faster. The Unreal Commander is one such solution.
Just like the windows explorer, the application is totally free of charge but it has more powerful capabilities. It comes with a double panel interface to make the viewing of folder contents easier and also the movement of files by copy/pasting. What’s more the interface supports drag and drop operations for efficient to make the movement of files easy.
Comfort and flexibility are the two main aims of the application; that’s why it comes equipped with feature such as folder synchronization, a function for quick viewing using a built-in viewer, tabbed windows to allow several folders to be opened at the same time in different tabs and to be able to switch seamlessly between these folders and extended search capabilities.
It also comes with the capability to change the default visual styles i.e. font elements for the interface items and also the color theme. It is also possible to customize the screen’s general layout and support for inserting a background image. All this in an effort to allow the user personalize his workspace.
Last but not least, there are some terrific features that make really makes the Unreal Commander stand out from other free file managers. These features include inbuilt ftp client, WCX and WLX plugin support, network support and the ability to manage compressed files and folders.
