Description
Unread counts in email are useful to some, but not to most. More often than not, people have many unread emails, and striving for "Inbox 0" - or a consistent state of zero unread messages in your inbox - is so difficult, there is even a merit badge for it!
TrueNew (TM), originally developed for the Mailroom iPhone application for Gmail - turns unread counts on their head by not worrying so much about what is unread, but on what is NEW.
Instead of showing only your unread count (blue lozenge), it also shows you the number of new emails since the last time you took any action on your mailbox (the green, right-half of the lozenge). If the unread-count lozenge has a green right half with a +NUMBER in it, that NUMBER is the number of new messages since you last took any action on your inbox.
Now instead of worrying about unread messages and useless unread counts, you can always have an accurate count of what is NEW, which is much more helpful.
NOTE: If you have a (10 | +2) like lozenge and you quit Gmail, when you come back (if no more mail has been delivered), all you will see is (10) - that is because those +2 messages are no longer NEW.
