Introduction
It's a good time to be a music lover. Never was it so easy to get the music in its original form and quality as it is today. From iTunes to Amazon, music is offered in a variety of formats, from low quality mp3's to high quality lossless formats such as FLAC, WMA and Apple lossless.
Most people will use Windows Media Player that comes with Windows to play their music. Some will take a step further and download WinAmp or they'll start using iTunes, for all its ease of use and seamless purchase of new music.
So, where does it leave it?
Why Change?
If you ever try to make a party with some of the popular media players you'll hit their user interface limitations. Someone will ask you to play a couple of songs right in the middle of your carefully armed playlist, a friend will take over the playlist for a while and act as an ad hoc DJ and quite frankly, you'll be lost.
Searching, filtering, changing song order it's all much easier to do with PartyDJ than with any other currently available media player. You can have your original playlist playing, while you're visualizing new playlists, filtering the library or importing new music you just downloaded.
No information is hidden, you're in charge all the time. Even if you never host parties, you'll find PartyDJ's user interface refreshing, easy to use, without all the clutter and bloatware of current media players.
Features
It is a new media player in town, so one naturally asks, can it match the rest of the media players, feature wise? Let's see what you'll get with it:
* CD Ripper * CD Burner * iPod Support * Video Player * Media Library * Media Sharing * Equalizer w/ the DSP * Automatic Song Mixing * Song Lyrics and Album Art * Slim Devices SqueezeBox Player * Internet Radio Server w/ Scheduler
Of course, most of the known media formats are supported, together with a possibility of using Slim Devices SqueezeBox as a player. If you've ever tried to make a party with a SqueezeBox you'll know how difficult it was using its original web page controls. Another feature that is worth mentioning is the possibility to see what are PartyDJ users all over the world listening to, chat with them, tune in to their radio station or share media. Hosting an Internet radio station with PartyDJ is as easy as clicking on the RadioDJ icon in the status bar and hitting the start button. As a bonus, you get your radio station published automatically on www.partydj.ws
Download
It will expire in 15 days, but worry not, new versions are released very often so you can keep using PartyDJ as long as you have the latest version. You'll need Windows XP or Windows Vista to run.
